Ankarana Lodge (previously called Tsingy Lodge) is located just a short distance from the entrance to Ankarana East National Park. The lodge is a great place from which to visit the park and is surrounded by limestone formations and dry savannah, with wildlife often seen behind the lodge itself.
Unfortunately the lodge was almost totally burnt down in 2011 but was completely rebuilt in 2012. It now has a handful of small, comfortable, well furnished, air conditioned bungalows made of stone and wood, all with en-suite bathrooms. There are also plans to build a swimming pool, which would be a great addition and ideal after a long day in the hot Ankarana National Park.
The lodge is owned by a very friendly and enthusiastic German, and is an ideal choice from which to base yourself for a night or two in Ankarana.
