Mala Mala Game Reserve is situated between the Kruger National Park and the Sabi Sand Wildtuin. The unfenced borders allow animals to migrate unhindered to the perennial Sand River which flows north to south through Mala Mala for 20 kilometres (13 miles).
Accommodation at Main Camp consists of 8 luxury suites and 10 luxury rooms. All suites and rooms have his and hers bathrooms, air conditioning, mini bar, personal safe, tea and coffee making facilities, telephones and hairdryers.
Activities at Mala Mala include game drives in 4x4 vehicles and guided walking safaris which are led by highly qualified rangers and Shangaan trackers. Game drives are conducted in open vehicles in the 40,000 acre private reserve. The rangers are in constant radio communication with one another to keep each other informed about the location of wildlife. Headsets are used for this purpose so as not to interrupt the sounds of the African bush. The 4-wheel drive safari vehicles enable the rangers to leave the road and provide guests with close up game viewing and fantastic photographic opportunities. Night drives, with the aid of powerful spotlights, bring the bush to life at night.
As well as the Big 5, guests may be lucky enough to see rare and endangered wildlife such as cheetah, pangolin and wild dog. The variety of birdlife in the reserve regularly rewards and birders can spot surprising finds such as the martial eagle and the ground hornbill.
