Makanyane Safari Lodge is located on 1,800 hectares of private ground in the Madikwe Game Reserve.
Accommodation is in eight luxurious double suites, each with its own lounge, en suite bathroom and shower, secluded outside shower, as well as private game viewing and sun deck with a spectacular view of the surrounding bush. Each suite is air conditioned and heated and has a fireplace, mini bar, fridge, hot beverage facilities, mini-safe, overhead fans and direct dial telephones. Bath robes, hairdryers, insect spray, mosquito repellent, sun block, shampoo, conditioner and body lotions are all available in the suite.
Travelling through Makanyane's private land and the Madikwe Game Reserve, game rangers share their wealth of knowledge with guests, from the fascinating life of the dung beetle to the intricacies of the wild dog's social system. The afternoon drive, after a brief stop to enjoy a sundowner, continues into the night, a shielded spotlight revealing the nocturnal wildlife of the bush.
Game drive times are flexible, with the drives going out at a time chosen by guests. Spontaneous drives may also go out in response to animal activity near the lodge. If lions roar near the camp during dinner, expect an invitation from a ranger to go out into the night in search of them. Makanyane also has a number of hides where guests can relax and watch the animals and birds going about their business.
