Thakadu River Camp is a tented safari lodge within the Madikwe Game Reserve located between the Marico River and a small tributary of the Marico River.
The camp is set within the riverine canopy and consists of 12 tented suites (four are family-sized with pull-out couches), each with their own viewing deck overlooking the river. The tents are large and spacious and the interior is uniquely designed to incorporate a full bathroom with shower, Victorian bath and separate toilet. Each tent has a sliding door that opens onto a private deck overlooking the river.
Activities include morning and afternoon/evening game drives in an open game-viewing vehicle, with bush sundowners and drink stops in the reserve. Experienced and professional game rangers with indigenous knowledge and passion for the bush make game drives exciting and fascinating.
Thakadu River Camp is one of the few 5-star lodges in the Madikwe Collection that welcomes children. Children can go on their own game drive after breakfast with a ranger. Before heading off on their drive, children are issued with a work book (those old enough), where they can tick off the things they've seen (dung, animals, spoor and trees).
