Following a total refurbishment and name change, the new Mbali Mbali Mahale Lodge is a revitalised and refreshed camp, yet occupying the same majestic position on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in the shadow of Mahale Mountians.
The camp is eco focused and runs on solar power 24/7. There are ten tented rooms which are airy and spacious, situated along the beach, and are furnished in the traditional 'safari' style with secluded patios offering wide views extending over the Lake. Each tent has an en suite bathroom with an open-feel shower and a full range of guest amenities.
Mahale is a pristine, natural experience open to those willing to walk its trails. The birds, primates, monkeys, small predators and butterflies are everywhere, and there is little to beat a gentle walk through the forest. Each day guests can venture out into this wonderland to observe the habituated 'M' Group of chimpanzees as they groom, squabble, or bound into the trees to swing between the vines. As well as chimp trekking, other activities at Kungwe include boat safaris, kayaking, and fishing excursions on Lake Tanganyika which offers some of the best fresh water fishing in Tanzania.
