Gibb's Farm is a working farm located on the forested slopes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Ideally located, the farm lies half way between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater, near the village of Karatu.
Set among formal gardens, the farmhouse and en suite cottages are the heart of a working farm. The main facilities, consisting of a living room, reading room, dining room, bar and gift shop, are situated in the old farmhouse. Originally built in 1929, the farmhouse retains the character of a well looked after private house with roaring fires and friendly hospitality. The patio sprawls into lush gardens with sweeping views of the valley and beyond.
The newly upgraded Farm Cottages echo the original style of Gibb's Farm guest cottage. A number of improvements have been made in response to suggestions by clients: more windows to bring the gardens and Ngorongoro Forest Reserve into view, larger bathrooms, greater privacy, and access to the surrounding flower gardens from private verandahs. All cottages feature wooden floors and classic interiors with wraparound windows. En suite garden bathrooms offer twin basins, luxurious bathtubs and indoor/outdoor showers. A wraparound fireplace warms the bathroom and living area.
A diverse variety of experiences are possible during a visit to Gibb's Farm. "A Farm Life" activity programme encourages cultural awareness, an historical interest, a connection to nature and a desire for adventure – and still leaves ample time for relaxing and enjoying the gentle rhythm of farm life.
