Ngorongoro Crater Lodge sits at an altitude of 2,375 metres (7 800 feet) above sea level on the rim of the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, with breathtaking views.
Set in crescents and inspired in design by the Maasai mud-and-stick manyatta, there are three separate camps – North and South Camp each with 12 suites, and Tree Camp with six suites. Each stilted suite is furnished with panelled walls and floors made of Tanzanian hardwoods, raw silk curtains, chandeliers, gilt mirrors, a fireplace and a butler's lobby. Each suite has an en suite bathroom with twin hand basins, shower, bathtub and separate WC. The suites all feature decks with fantastic views of the Crater floor.
Each camp has a sitting and dining room, an outdoor dining area and viewing decks. The domed dining room has a welcoming fireplace, crystal, silver and massive wooden platters making every meal a special occasion.
Guests can enjoy daily game drives into the Crater in closed safari vehicles with pop-up roofs, bird watching, half-day trips to Olduvai Gorge and Shifting Sands (subject to vehicle availability). Optional activities at an additional cost include walking on the Crater rim, a cultural Maasai manyatta visit, sundowners overlooking the Crater on one side and the Serengeti on the other (minimum 10 guests), and private bush breakfasts and lunches on the Crater floor.
