Situated on the Eastern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge has magnificent views over the crater floor, which is home to vast herds of buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, the rare and endangered black rhino, elephant, cheetah, leopard, lion and herds of gazelle and wildebeest. Its position on the Eastern rim allows fantastic, uninterrupted views of the sunset.
All of the 90 double bedrooms are spacious and each has two queen-sized beds and a separate dressing area. Each room has a glass-fronted verandah where guests can enjoy a private view of the Crater. The lodge also has 6 single rooms, all of which have a queen sized beds and glass fronted sliding doors.
The restaurant is in the shape of a rondavel, with a high roof and large glass windows to view the crater. Temperatures can drop in the evenings and the bar area offers a cosy environment, with real fires and comfortable seating to enjoy a pre-dinner or bedtime drink.
The lodge has a private access road into the crater, allowing guests to access the crater for game viewing with driver/guide.
