Mdonya Old River Camp lies in the Western part of Ruaha National Park. It is a small bush camp in one of the newest and perhaps most exciting bush destinations in Tanzania.
There are 12 tents situated in a spacious area under the shade of large sycamore figs and Faidherbia albida, on the banks of a sand-river. They are traditional safari tents, comfortably furnished with double or twin beds and with large verandahs where you can relax and observe the wildlife around. There are also two family tents, with separate room zipped on in place of the veranda. The extra room contains twin beds and there is a partition with zip between the two chambers. The central main bedroom has a double bed. At the back is a dressing area with washstand and the bathroom is behind that, with a flush loo and shower open to the sky.
Game drives are the main activity at Mdonya Old River Camp. Game drives are flexible and not limited by any schedule. Guests get a chance to see the mosaic of ecosystems, from the river pools to the dry open savannah. Guests can also explore the monolithic granite boulders dating from the formation of the Great Rift Valley and exposed by erosion that litter the area, especially by the Mdonya Falls. There are Baobab valleys and sand rivers fringed with Hyphaene petersiana palms.
