Escorted tours are an excellent method of transport for people who don't want to drive themselves and want to see as much as possible with as little stress as possible.
Expert guides bring long journeys to life pointing out things that might otherwise get missed. Planned itineraries with pre-booked sightseeing ensure that every day time is maximised but at a more leisurely pace. Private guides can also be arranged, where guests choose the pace and what to do along the way. Each evening the guide will sit down and discuss the following day and what opportunities await.
The other great advantage of private guiding is that guests choose accommodation. Touring can also be incorporated as a part of a tailor-made holiday. Especially in South Africa, it is not at all uncommon for someone to spend a week in Cape Town and have 3-day tour to visit the attractions that lie beyond the city limits. Day tours can also enhance a City break by getting visitors out of town for a day, without having to worry about driving. Escorted tours can make more daunting destinations seem much more accessible.
Namibia is a country dominated by breathtaking landscapes and endless horizons, which can so often be missed on a self-drive holiday. Distances are vast and sometimes intimidating, and the worry of arriving after dark or missing an afternoon game drive are all eliminated when an expert is in charge of the day's logistics. The same applies in Malawi and Zambia where road conditions aren't brilliant and some of the less accessible places are better visited with an experienced driver/guide in a customised vehicle.
We offer a selection of tours utilising a variety of vehicles. Coach tours are often more affordable as the touring companies benefit from group discounts, and for the more gregarious this can be a much more sociable affair. On these departures both a driver and guide are deployed so the driver can concentrate on the road whilst the guide can do exactly that, mixing with the guests and sharing their wealth of knowledge with the group. Smaller vehicles with groups of just a few individuals offer a more exclusive experience as there are just a few eager ears to absorb the information and guests are not vying for position when sightseeing. The smaller vehicle tours are also able to utilise smaller accommodation and so rather than larger chain hotels, guests get to meet the locals by staying in more personal guest houses and country lodges.
For the younger or more adventurous traveller, we have a range of scheduled departure tours and safaris where accommodation ranges from camping to rustic country inns. One step up from an overland trip, these vary in length from a few days to a few weeks, and specially adapted vehicles provide fantastic sightseeing for small groups of younger at heart travellers from all over the world.
