When is the Best Time to Visit Madagascar?

The most favourable time to visit is during the dry season from April to November, when conditions are more comfortable for exploring and wildlife viewing. These months offer easier access to national parks and clearer paths for trekking.
 
From December to March, the weather becomes hotter and more humid, with the possibility of heavy rains, particularly in coastal regions. However, this period also brings lush landscapes and active wildlife, making it rewarding for those seeking a greener, more vibrant setting.

Andasibe-Mantadia National Park

One of Madagascar’s most accessible rainforest reserves, Andasibe is best known for the indri, the largest living lemur, whose distinctive call echoes through the forest. Guided walks reveal an incredible diversity of wildlife, including chameleons, frogs and birdlife, all set within dense, humid rainforest that feels alive with sound and movement.

Avenue of the Baobabs & Western Madagascar

One of the island’s most iconic sights, this striking avenue of towering baobab trees creates a dramatic landscape, particularly at sunrise and sunset. The surrounding western region is drier and more open, offering a strong contrast to the rainforests, with a sense of scale, light and raw natural beauty.

Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Tsingy is defined by its dramatic limestone formations, forming a jagged, almost otherworldly landscape. Exploring the park involves guided walks, suspension bridges and narrow pathways, creating a more adventurous experience, while also supporting a variety of endemic wildlife adapted to this unique environment.

Nosy Be & Offshore Islands

Located off Madagascar’s north-west coast, Nosy Be offers a more relaxed island setting, with warm waters, coral reefs and good conditions for snorkelling and diving. It provides a softer contrast to the mainland, with a slower pace and the opportunity to unwind while still experiencing the island’s rich marine life.
